Forever His: Known, Loved, and Glorified

Scripture: John 10:28–30; Romans 8:30

by Dr Timothy Mann

Introduction: The Joy of Being Fully Known

In a world that constantly shifts and relationships that often falter, one truth stands unshakable: If you belong to Jesus, you are forever His. He knows you, loves you, and has secured your eternal future.  John 10:28–30 is one of the most comforting passages in all of Scripture. Jesus says:

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand… and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”

These words don’t just speak of temporary safety. They declare permanent, unbreakable belonging. To be known by the Shepherd is to be loved to the end—and beyond.

Past Tense Glory: God’s Work is Already Finished

Romans 8:30 gives us a breathtaking glimpse of how God sees the believer:

“Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

Notice the grammar: glorified—past tense. Though our glorification is future from our perspective, it is so certain in God’s eyes that He speaks of it as already done.

This is what it means to be forever His. If He knew you before time began, and if He justified you through Christ’s death and resurrection, then your future with Him is not a question mark. It’s a sealed reality.

Held by the Triune God

Jesus says no one can snatch His sheep from His hand. Then He says no one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. These are not two separate safeties—they are one and the same. “I and My Father are one.”  You are not just held by grace—you are held by God Himself. The Son saves you. The Father secures you. And the Spirit seals you.  This is why we don’t believe true believers can lose their salvation. Because salvation isn’t maintained by human effort—it’s upheld by divine power.

Your Identity: Known, Loved, Secure

This is your identity if you are in Christ:

  • Known before the foundation of the world.
  • Loved through every weakness, wound, and wandering.
  • Justified by the blood of Christ.
  • Glorified in the eternal plan of God.

You are not a project—you’re a beloved sheep in the Shepherd’s fold.

That means your hope doesn’t rest in how you feel, how well you perform, or how strong your faith seems. Your hope rests in the Shepherd who laid down His life for you and rose again in victory.

Live With Assurance and Purpose

Assurance is not arrogance—it’s worship. Knowing you are His frees you to walk in joy, obedience, and mission.

You no longer have to strive for identity—you live from it. You don’t follow Jesus to earn His love—you follow because He already gave it. You don’t fear judgment—you rejoice in grace.

This is the freedom of the gospel.

Reflection & Application

  • How does knowing your future is secure in Christ change the way you face trials and temptations today?
  • Do you live with the joy of someone who is already loved, or the fear of someone trying to earn it?
  • How can this truth help you encourage others who are struggling in their faith?

Your story is not up for grabs. Your name is not in pencil. It’s written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. And the Shepherd who knows you is the same one who will glorify you.

Rest in that. Rejoice in that. And live for Him.
